External Turbo CO2 Reactor - for 12/16mm Hose

Key Facts

  • Suitable for 12mm/16mm tubing (12mm internal / 16mm external). Click here for tubing size advice
  • CO2 is trapped inside the reactor so it cannot escape, achieving 100% CO2 diffusion.
  • Uses an impeller to quickly mix the CO2 into the water.
  • Detachable mounting bracket.
  • Can be attached to aquarium or screwed to wall or cabinet.

Description

External Turbo CO2 Reactor for planted aquariums. Achieves 100% CO2 diffusion by trapping CO2 at the top of the reactor chamber and using twin impellers to diffuse the CO2 with the aquarium water. The integrated compression fittings for the filter and CO2 tubing ensure that there is no possibility of the tubing detaching.

The detachable mounting bracket gives the option of attaching the unit to either the inside or outside of the aquarium using suction cups, or it can be screwed to a wall or cabinet.

Instructions

  • Reactors are installed on the return / outflow tubing from a filter as the water is reintroduced to the aquarium.
  • Cut or replace your filter tubing with PVC tubing.
  • Attach filter tubing to corresponding inlet/outlet of the reactor.
  • Connect CO2 supply to CO2 inlet of the reactor.
  • Turn filter and CO2 on and allow reactor to fill with water.
  • Invert (turn upside down) the reactor to eject any trapped air.
  • Adjust CO2 rate until desired level of dosing is achieved.

I quite dislike seeing the CO2 bubbles floating around the tank and this has solved that problem and I now has crystal clear water, and presumably a very efficient CO2 system as no CO2 can escape. The bracket fits only one side so had to get a bit creative with my pipe work to fit my particular set up. Other than that great product. Excellent CO2 absorption, silent and easy to connect. Over a month no sign of leaks. Fit a tap to your CO2 inlet because if you disconnect for any reason....water water everywhere....lol Real point of the review...as usual here, good stuff, good prices, fast delivery. Over the years I've bought stuff from everywhere...noticed the other day that as I've replaced I seem to be getting it all from here.

The compression fittings on these work in a different way to those found on regulators/diffusers. Keep the collar fully screwed on, push the tubing on onto the inlet/outlet, then unscrew the collar so it goes over the tubing - this will hold it in place.

Really chuffed with this. Works just as I'd hoped. No bubbles in the tank at which is just what I wanted as I *hate* the 'fizzy pop' look you get from using diffuser. Really chuffed with this. I'm pleased with the performance of the reactor. Getting a few bubbles entering the tank, but nowhere near as many as if I were using a diffuser, so the CO2 must be being diffused within the reactor as it's meant to. I'm going to leave it a while and then experiment reducing the CO2 dose, as in theory, if all the CO2 is being diffused then I shouldn't need as much as when I was using a pollen diffuser.
